A passion for Samba

Our company was created by Julia. Julia started dancing samba in Melbourne at local dance schools. After moving to Europe, she started training online with Alex Coutinho, who is widely known as one of the best samba trainers in the world.

After a lot of training and a year of preparation, she travelled to Rio de Janeiro for the Carnaval of 2024, where she danced as a passista. She spent 5 weeks in Rio, training with the best teachers and dancers, learning about samba dance and technique.

Besides the dance, she also immersed herself in the culture of Rio de Janeiro, and of the samba community. Samba is much more than just a dance, it is a very strong cultural movement that brings communities together and empowers its people.

Julia strongly believes in the importance of understanding the cultural context of samba, and tries to bring this to her dance. She also believes in paying respect to its origins, and ensures that all her dance training, material, costumes all come from artists in the samba community of Brazil.

It is her mission to share the beauty of the art of samba and help to spread authentic samba across the world.
