Samba is for everyone

Wherever you are in life, let us take you on a journey. Explore your self-expression and find confidence through movement and energy. Samba is about community, love, integrity and respect.

What you’ll learn

  • Samba no pé dance technique
What do beginners have in common with legendary artists? It is the way they perfect and craft their Samba no pé. The “basic” step of Samba is the most difficult element of the dance. We will break down the technique into its essential components. When you understand and practice the technique, your samba will progress quickly, and you will shine like a star when you samba.

  • Classic variations and choreography steps
Samba has many commonly used steps in freestyling and choreography. When you learn the techniques and names of these steps, it wil become easy to learn choreographies or dance freestyle. This will also help you greatly for when you take classes with some of the great Brazilian Samba artists.

  • Musicality
From relaxed Pagode to an intense Enredo: there is a lot of variety in Samba music. You will learn about key rhythms, instruments in a bateria and different melodies. Samba music tells beautiful stories. In this course we will learn how to listen. We will explore various types of music and the different ways we interact with the music as dancers.

  • Energy and expression
Famous for its high energy and vibrant style, Brazilian samba conquered the hearts of the world. The intensity of Samba is perfect for expressing different emotions: joy, pain, anger, love, sensuality and more. In the course we will learn how to use our dance to express different emotions and how to incorporate the energy we bring into our dancing. Through exploring different energies and movements, you will find new ways to express yourself.

  • Choreography and performance
Do you love performing on stage? Do you dream of parading in a carnaval? Whether you feel most comfortable in front of an audience of thousands of people, or a bathroom mirror of one, anyone has the potential to feel like a star. We will learn a choreograhy and different important skills for performing and parading. Who knows what is next? This might be the first step towards dancing shows joining a parade.

  • Culture and community
Samba is much more than just a dance, it is important cultural heritage of Brazil. We want to provide you with more than dance routines in our classes and give you the opportunity to learn about this beautiful culture and the important role it plays in communities. Through joining this course, you are not only supporting our ongoing work with samba culture and helping the community, but you are also joining and creating your own supportive community of fellow dancers.
